Gynecologic Cancer Care Program
Gynecologic cancers can affect the cervix, uterus, ovaries, vulva, and other organs of the female reproductive system. Because some can progress without early symptoms, a specialized assessment is key to guiding diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Our gynecologic oncology team evaluates each case based on the type and extent of the disease and coordinates the necessary options to provide timely care focused on each patient's needs.
Gastrointestinal Cancer Care Program
Gastrointestinal cancers can originate in organs such as the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, pancreas, and liver. Their treatment often requires the coordinated involvement of different specialties.

Thyroid Cancer Care Program
Thyroid cancer treatment depends on the type of tumor, its extent, and the individual patient's characteristics. Surgery is often part of the treatment plan and requires specialized assessment. We have surgeons experienced in thyroid procedures and offer transoral thyroidectomy to selected patients; this is a minimally invasive technique that allows the surgery to be performed without leaving a visible scar on the neck.
Care program for advanced or metastatic cancer
Metastatic cancer occurs when cancer cells spread from the primary tumor to other parts of the body. At this stage, treatment focuses on controlling the disease, alleviating symptoms, and maintaining the best possible quality of life. Our team evaluates each case to determine the most appropriate options and, when indicated, may utilize genomic testing to analyze tumor characteristics and help identify potential targeted therapies.

What are the most common types of cancer?
The most frequent cancers vary by sex and age. In general, the most common are: Breast cancer Prostate cancer Lung cancer Colorectal cancer (colon and rectum) Skin cancer Cervical cancer Stomach cancer Thyroid cancer Early detection significantly improves the chances of treatment and cure.
What are the warning signs that could indicate cancer?
Many cancers do not produce symptoms in the early stages. However, you should consult a doctor if you experience: Unexplained weight loss. Abnormal bleeding. A persistent cough or coughing up blood. New lumps or masses. Changes in moles. Persistent changes in bowel or urinary habits. Difficulty swallowing. Intense fatigue with no apparent cause. These symptoms do not always mean cancer, but they require medical evaluation.
Are all tumors cancer?
No, there are both benign and malignant tumors.Benignthey do not invade other organs or produce metastasis.Malignant (cancer)they can grow uncontrollably and invade other tissues. Only a doctor, through specialized studies, can establish the diagnosis.
Is cancer always hereditary?
No. Approximately 5 to 10 % of cancers are hereditary. Most are caused by a combination of aging, environmental factors, and lifestyle choices. Certain family histories may increase the risk and warrant genetic counseling.
How is cancer diagnosed?
The diagnosis generally includes: Clinical history and physical examination. Laboratory studies. Imaging (mammography, tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, or PET-CT, as appropriate). Biopsy, which is the definitive study to confirm the diagnosis.
What treatments exist for cancer?
No. It depends on the medication used. Some treatments cause complete hair loss, others only thinning, and some do not affect the hair at all. Currently, strategies exist to reduce this effect in certain patients.
Is there a cure for cancer?
Yes. Many cancers can be cured, especially when detected in early stages. Even in advanced disease, current treatments make it possible to control the disease for long periods and improve the quality of life.
What can I do to reduce my cancer risk?
Some measures that help decrease the risk are: Do not smoke. Maintain a healthy weight. Engage in regular physical activity. Consume fruits and vegetables daily. Limit alcohol consumption. Protect yourself from the sun. Get vaccinated against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis B when indicated. Participate in early detection programs according to age and risk factors.
When should I get cancer screening tests?
It depends on age, sex, and risk factors. Some recommended tests include: Mammography for breast cancer. Colonoscopy or fecal occult blood tests for colorectal cancer. Pap smear and HPV test for cervical cancer. Individualized prostate cancer risk assessment with your doctor. Your specialist may recommend a personalized screening plan.
Does breast cancer only affect women?
No. Although it is much more common in women, men can also develop breast cancer, although it accounts for less than 1 % of cases. If you notice any lump or nipple discharge, you should see a doctor.
Does smoking only increase the risk of lung cancer?
No. Smoking also increases the risk of: Mouth cancer. Larynx. Esophagus. Kidney. Bladder. Pancreas. Stomach. Cervix, among others. Quitting smoking progressively reduces the risk of developing cancer.
What is a metastasis?
Metastasis occurs when cancer cells spread from the original tumor to other organs, such as bone, liver, lung, or brain. Not all cancer patients develop metastasis.
Can I exercise during cancer treatment?
In most cases, yes. Physical activity adapted to each patient's condition can help to: Reduce fatigue. Maintain muscle mass. Improve mood. Promote recovery. It should always be performed under the recommendations of the medical team.
